Tracking Rabbits
If I divide the rabbit ears sticking up through the clover by two, there are currently two young bunnies grazing in the front yard. I have mixed emotions about the rabbits and the proximity to the flowers, and harbor the thought that the fox and her family need to be fed.
A good Sunday morning starts with an energetic wife willing to fetch the news paper, supplements and all, and a refreshed cup of coffee to the teak bench at the end of the pool. Fifteen minutes or so floating watching the clouds and birds had been very soothing. Lots of birds this morning, stratified into layers of flight seeking the compass, with the clouds lonely moving in a single direction. Nature's sounds are overlaid with the sounds of organ music on the porch sounds system, loud enough, I hope, to reach the neighbor's ears. I hope. If I stay reading much longer, the music will become choral and organ, and nice transition to the comic pages and Sears.
The bird feeders are full, and dozens of birds flock to the various locations, including ten to fifteen feet from me, me reading the paper and sipping Martha's brew. One humming bird samples the Super Bells...a shocking purple-pink this morning. Dull humming bird but a bright flock of flowers. The butterflies have been especially attracted to the this pot of flowers in the evenings, but they are not warm enough yet to fly.
The sun crests the roof line, heating the air from the comfort of the morning shadows to a hotter moment, even with a mild breeze. OK, time for a coffee refill.
